Coaching. also known as life coaching or executive coaching, is designed to improve your performance in life. Think of it in the same way as coaching for sports, music, or acting. All the people at the top in these fields have personal coaches. The difference is that Life Coaching is coaching designed for the whole person, not just one specific area. The goal of Life Coaching is to bring all of the aspects of life into balance and to help you maximize your performance and outcomes in every area of life — health, personal peace, relationships, career, and finances. Coaching is forward-looking, not past-examining.

Disciplined Life Coaching is different in several ways:

First, in our view, traditional coaching too often becomes more akin to therapy or psychological counseling. In our observation, too often traditional coaching can fall into patterns of rehashing the hows and whys of repeated failures, leaving the client’s life unchanged.

Second, Disciplined Life Coaching focuses on clear RESULTS for our clients. By this we mean life change. Some examples of this might be:

  • Developing the habit of rising early and taking on the day.
  • Setting clear, ambitious goals and achieving them.
  • Developing better relationships.
  • Building of new patterns of thinking, new outlooks on life, and new powerful habits.

One key secret to life is that there are no secrets to life. Success in life in life change is determined by what author Jeff Olson calls “the slight edge,” which he defines as building powerful daily habits and routines and doing them consistently. That’s what we train you do.

Leadership expert John Maxwell says, “You will never change you life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” We embrace this view.

Third, Disciplined Life Coaching is a hybrid between traditional coaching and a training program. At DLC, our system is built around the weekly coaching session, but it doesn’t end there. We also include the option of daily text messages, daily accountability tracking, and brief daily phone calls if necessary.

We also include powerful mindset training techniques and daily practices that will help you “flush out” old habits, and old modes of thinking and create new, healthier, more productive life patterns.

Coaching is done on a weekly session basis. Coaching sessions almost always held by phone or video conference. After a client is accepted, the first session is two hours and held in person if the client is local (otherwise by video conference). After the introductory session, sessions are held weekly and are 40-45 minutes long. The balance of the hour is for the Coach to make notes and action summaries of the session, which are emailed to you for you to review and keep as a reminder of action plans for the following week.

Also, in many cases, clients track their daily progress on a spreadsheet which is checked daily by the Coach. This helps you stay accountable and on track on a daily basis. Coaching also includes an option text messages to the Coach for updates and motivation. There is no coaching on the fifth days of the month.
